  • Fit Variable depending on the model take half a size up from your usual
  • Half sizes Yes, from 34 to 42 Fendi official women's range

Do Fendi shoes run small or large?

Fendi officially states: the entire house uses Italian sizing, with the exception of men's shoes. Sizing is categorized rather than model-specific: pumps, ballet flats, loafers, and boots run small (take half a size up), sneakers run large (take half a size down). Be careful with conversion charts from some major American department stores, which may be off by half a size for this brand.

Fendi vintage: archive models and how to recognize them

Fendi is first and foremost fifty-four years of Karl Lagerfeld – from 1965 until his death in 2019, the longest collaboration between a designer and a fashion house in history. As for shoes, the real treasure trove is from the 1990s-2000s, featuring monogrammed canvas. A note on vocabulary: the house's most famous icons are bags, and the name "Fendi First" refers to both a bag and a shoe.

Recognizing and dating a pair of Fendi

  • This is the least documented house in our catalog for shoe dating: available guides focus on bags and clothing. Therefore, we do not claim to date a pair precisely by its markings.
  • One benchmark still holds: "FENDI ROMA" written in full letters is a modern marking; a pair from the 1990s would more likely bear "FENDI" alone or the double F.
  • In practice, it's the material that dates the item: a coated monogram canvas points to the 1990s-2000s; thick sculptural soles and plexiglass to the late 2010s; a double F mesh or an F-shaped heel to 2019 and beyond.

What to look for before buying

  • The coated canvas with the monogram is the structural flaw of vintage Fendi: the coating delaminates, whitens at the folds and corners, and the pattern fades at friction points. We clean gently, nothing more — we do not re-print a monogram.
  • The fur on mules dries out, cracks, and loses its hair in patches: we do not restore it.
  • Plexiglass and PVC yellow and crack with light, irreversibly.
  • On cantilevered metallic heels, we check for play at the junction with the sole: this is a safety matter.
  • In contrast, two easy fixes: resoling a mule or a wedge, replacing the elastic on a slingback.

What makes a pair valuable

  • A recognizable piece from the Lagerfeld era, with a visible and intact monogram.
  • The condition of the coating — this is the primary markdown factor.
  • A metallic heel with no play.
  • A common size, and the original box.
