Few houses know how to design a sandal like Céline: a clean line, carefully selected leather, nothing superfluous. We unearth pre-owned Céline sandals, nu-pieds, and slingbacks, restore them in our Bordeaux workshop, and send them off for years of summer wear.

The story is a beautiful one: Céline was founded in 1945... as a shoe house. Céline Vipiana and her husband first opened a children's shoe boutique before dressing women. Shoes are therefore not an accessory at Céline — they are the starting point.
From this history, the house has retained a rare talent for summer models: fine-strapped sandals, low-heeled sandals, graphic slingbacks. Shoes designed for walking, crafted to last, and whose vintage versions are as sought after today as recent collections.
Our selection brings together the current Céline pieces — sandals, slingbacks, or vintage sandals depending on arrivals — and grows with our discoveries.
The nu-pied is an open sandal that leaves the foot largely uncovered, held by straps – at the heel as well as at the front. Sandal is the generic term: any open summer shoe, flat or heeled. The slingback, on the other hand, is a shoe closed at the front (often a pump toe) with only the back strap open.
In practice: the slingback can be worn from spring, at the office as well as in the evening; the nu-pied is the shoe for high summer; the flat sandal, for holidays. All three exist at Céline, and that's why this page brings all three together.
Celine shoes generally fit true to size, but vintage models require a word of caution: the leather on older models has often softened, and a well-worn open-toe shoe can gain half a size.
For a remote purchase, rely on the insole length rather than the displayed size — we measure it upon request; simply write to us from the pair's product page. And if you're hesitating between two sizes for a strappy sandal, take the smaller one: straps stretch, never the other way around.
The greatest enemy of a sandal is not rain, but salt — from perspiration and the sea. A slightly damp cloth after each seaside outing, a colorless nourishing cream once a month, and the leather will last through the summer.
Our complete advice can be found in our guide on how to clean your luxury shoes — and our Bordeaux workshop takes care of the rest: our pairs are reconditioned, with soles and straps checked.
A nu-pied is an open sandal held by straps, leaving the foot largely exposed, including the heel. Sandal is the generic term for any open summer shoe. In other words: all nu-pieds are sandals, but a closed-toe sandal is not a nu-pied.
Yes, Céline shoes generally fit true to size. However, on a vintage pair, the leather has often softened over the years: check the insole length or ask us for the exact measurement before purchasing, especially if you are hesitating between two sizes.
Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth after a day at the seaside, let it dry away from direct sunlight, then nourish it once a month with a colorless cream. Avoid prolonged exposure to water: salt and perspiration are the true enemies of a leather sandal.
Yes. Each pair entering My Pretty French Shoes is authenticated and then reconditioned in our Bordeaux workshop: leathers nourished, soles checked, straps tightened if necessary. You receive a unique, inspected, ready-to-wear pair.
