Who hasn't had the unpleasant sensation of having their sandal soles blackened, or with small grey lumps embedded? Yes, ladies, those are indeed dirt! Wearing our shoes barefoot while being so close to the ground creates small clumps of dust agglomerated with the sebum secreted by our little feet... and yes, it sticks under our toes, damaging our shoes while being a bit embarrassing... so what do we do?
It is always possible to clean your insoles, with a little determination and a few accessories, such as a cloth and a toothbrush! To start, if the dirt marks are light, a cloth soaked in "universal cream" for leather, well applied everywhere, can clean the leather very well and give you a good result with this unique method. If you notice small deposits, do not hesitate to scrape them off with the tip of a round-tipped knife, for example, and then proceed with the cream application. If, on the other hand, you feel that the dirt is a little ingrained, you can moisten the insole and lather it by rubbing it with a toothbrush. It is important to know that leather is not afraid of water, so moistening it will not damage the shoe. The soap will be either Marseille soap or glycerine soap (the simplest possible): it can be found in shoe care sections, or in equestrian shops for leather care.
Please note that it is entirely possible to have the "insole" replaced, as your cobbler would tell you. If it is too damaged, or if the shoe is second-hand, the insole can be removed and replaced with a brand new one, cut from a beautiful leather of your choice. Of course, beige leather insoles are also available and fit perfectly. Personally, I generally like pink leather, or even with a heart on it! Your little feet will then be nestled in a beautiful pair almost as good as new, just with this simple operation. At MyPrettyFrenchShoes, we change them for you upon request so that you feel GOOD in your shoes! And so you can show off your luxury shoes, brand new or almost!
