I dreamed of them, fantasized about them, and one day they were given to me: I had a pair of Louboutins before my astonished eyes, with 4 layers of packaging to open and the accompanying ceremony. But a red sole puts pressure on you. What if I scratch it, my God?! That's the real question.
Before wearing this revered pair, I started by checking if the places I was invited to had carpet and if the venue was worthy of my sacred red-soled step. This obviously put some constraints on how to wear them, but I noticed that other girls did the same... and that made me laugh. I wasn't crazy. While waiting for other sanitized (!) occasions, I displayed the famous jewels. Then I stumbled upon a bargain... a pair of 12 cm Louboutin espadrille wedges. Louboutin. Espadrilles. Everyday shoes?
Yes! The pair was second-hand, and the previous owner was clearly less concerned about sole scratches: she had paved the way, and I could follow in her footsteps.
So here I am, high up in the streets on a pair of striped espadrilles, signed by Christian, without fear of damaging my precious acquisition. What a feeling of freedom! And pride, and beauty... are we allowed? Yes, everything is permitted as long as the shoe is cherished and self-esteem matches!
Since then, I've understood that there are ways to protect your red sole, and that an authorized cobbler has the Louboutin color in their sole protector drawer... I even understood that you can have a "mirror" or matte sole protector if you wish, and that entrusting your shoes for such a protective operation is now an invitation to freedom. So if you see me running after the bus in 12-cm heels with a red sole, don't panic about the scratches, lord! My soles are covered!!
