Why buy second-hand luxury shoes instead of outlet or private sales?

Let's remember, we are in an era where overconsumption and overproduction are the norm. By buying new shoes, we obviously encourage the continuation of this overproduction.

The price of luxury shoes

There is, however, a definite barrier to buying new luxury shoes: their price! Many people dream in front of shoe displays costing 800 euros. Fewer actually "splurge," yet who wouldn't want a pair of dream shoes on their feet?!

Luxury pair means impeccable cut, carefully selected quality leather, perfect finishes, comfort... depending on the heel height! In other words, a luxury pair on your feet means great satisfaction throughout your day!

Outlet and Private Sale

Accessing this pleasure can be achieved through alternative channels, such as outlets or private sales, but these are rare and hard to find in the luxury sector. They are almost more frequently found abroad.

Second-hand luxury shoes

Another obvious way is to buy second-hand luxury shoes. As long as the find is new or almost new, or if you have the courage, the desire, and the budget to refurbish them, this option is often the best way to acquire beautiful pieces at a low price.

If you embrace the second-hand market, then you can access pairs you never thought you could afford! For a pre-owned pair, you'll want to check the condition of the inner and outer soles, which can always be redone. The truth is, these luxury pairs have often been worn very little. Their owners bought them for a special occasion and haven't worn them since, or they collect them and eventually sort through them after never having worn them.

The price is generally negligible compared to new, unlike clothing, which doesn't hold the same value in our minds. Indeed, shoes are considered—subconsciously—as intimate. It's therefore harder to wear someone else's shoes, whereas this has become more common for clothing. The price reflects this, and that's all the better for us, who are looking for that rare gem, lightly worn or that can be renovated to have a pair of "beauties" on our feet!
